The Story So Far

Problems We Had To Solve

  1. The client had an existing MVP product that had hit a hard limit in users and capability
  2. They had a tight deadline as they would soon be onboarding new clients
  3. They needed to pivot rapidly to offer COVID as well as flu vaccine management
  4. It was a complex offering that would be subject to NHS information governance standards

The Plan

  1. Run our North Star Workshop to understand the long as well as short term vision for the product
  2. Carry out a technical audit of the existing product to see what could be re-used and what had to be rebuilt
  3. Complete rebuild of the back end with a more suitable framework creating huge performance improvements
  4. Provide additional support to go through NHS information governance audits

The Tech Dept understands our product and what we’re trying to achieve. We have a great working relationship with them. I like that they’re not too techie. They help us solve the problem simply. ‘This is the problem; this is how we do it. There’s no rubbish around the side’. In contrast, other dev agencies need us to spell it out. If we don’t get the explanation exactly right, they don’t get it right. So they build the wrong thing.

What We Did

  1. Completely rebuilt the backend of the application on a scalable framework for huge performance improvements resulting in a system that can support hundreds of thousands of users.
  2. Significant rework of the front end to move the rules and logic to the backend resulting in improved performance.
  3. Improved the schema and data structure to make the product extensible in line with the founders’ long term vision.
  4. Provided CTO level support to help the client complete NHS due diligence processes and implement best practices such as disaster recovery plans.
