Noteworthy Achievements
The leading NIR calibration, development and delivery company, globally.
The Story So Far
Problems We Had To Solve
- Cutting edge NIR scanning technology but no centralised software platform to support it
- Need to collect, analyse and aggregate data from environments that have low internet connectivity
- Balancing local configuration of tolerances and alerts with central standards
- Central management of software reducing the need for expensive on site installs
The Plan
- Understand the requirements including the capabilities and limitations of the existing system
- Design a solution including the underlying cloud architecture and evolve this collaboratively with the Aunir technical team
- Complete end to end development of the solution and test collaboratively with the client
- Iterate the product based on user feedback
Tech Dept were a key partner in our ability to develop and roll out a huge upgrade in NIR scanning capability to our clients.

The Challenges
- End users operate in environments with poor internet connectivity
- Complex rules and logic with large volumes of data to process
- Business critical system - any downtime has major impacts for users
- Compatibility across different hardware versions with different capabilities
What We Did
- Designed a distributed architecture where as much data processing as possible takes place on the device - giving immediate feedback to the user
- Asynchronous data updates - data that can’t be processed on device is held until a connection is available then uploaded to the cloud environment
- Central rules engine with options for localised user customisation - with different options available based on the capabilities of the user’s device
- Deployment process to allow updates to be tested and pushed to live with minimal downtime and disruption to users
